As per our Shipping and Returns Policy, custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-returnable. If you need an over- or undersized item, note it under "Comments" during Checkout. Cut-to-size orders have an acceptable cut tolerance of 1/8" (0.125"), so clarify if the adjustment is to be made on the (+) or (-) side of the saw blade. Please review our full return and shipping policy here.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
Since custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-refundable, be very careful while measuring your dimensions. As each cut is nominal, even the slightest miscalculation could be costly.
How to Use a Measuring Tape
Extend your tape measure several inches to find the 1 and 2 inch markers. In between the inch markers you’ll find 16 equally spaced tick marks.
Measure by counting the increments beyond the nearest inch. As the increments decrease, so does the length of the mark. For example, 1/2" has a bigger mark than 1/4" which has a bigger mark than 1/8". The smallest mark follows at 1/16". Please be aware that some measuring tapes may have even smaller increments.
Features of a Measuring Tape: Sliding End Hook
The sliding end hook is designed for two different types of measurements. An outside measurement (where the hook of the tape hangs over an edge), requires the hook to slide out a bit to account for the thickness of the material. When making an inside measurement (where the hook will push up against a surface), the clip slides in, again, accounting for its thickness. The measuring tape self-adjusts to guarantee an accurate measurement (as far as the tape is concerned).
Sanitizing Acrylic and Polycarbonate Sheet [X]
Acrylic and Polycarbonate Sneeze Guards and like products require special care while cleaning and disinfecting. To maintain the optical clarity of sneeze guards and other acrylic or polycarbonate items, use an acrylic or polycarbonate safe cleaner like Novus Plastic Polish #1, Brillianize Plastic Cleaner, or a mild soap solution.
Please reference the following compatible cleaners when DISINFECTING acrylic and polycarbonate items. The use of commonly available commercial alcohol or ammonia-based disinfectants may cause crazing and damage.
Clear acrylic cast sheets are an economical alternative to polycarbonate (PC) when extreme strength is not necessary. It is often preferred because of its moderate properties, easy handling and processing, and low cost, but behaves in a brittle manner when loaded, especially under an impact force. Transmits up to 92% of visible light (3 mm thickness), and gives a reflection of about 4% from each of its surfaces on account of its refractive index. It has a density of 1.17-1.20 g/cm3, which is less than half that of glass. It also has good impact strength, higher than both glass and polystyrene.
Acrylics have outstanding resistance to long-term exposure to sunlight and weathering. Acrylic has excellent optical properties and is more resistant to impact than glass. In addition, acrylic has low water absorption, good electrical resistivity, and fair tensile strength. Applications are infinite, including art installations, outdoor signs, glazing, aircraft canopies, skylights, automotive taillights, dials, buttons, lighting applications, knobs, and machine covers.
Cast acrylic is incredibly durable but is not bullet resistant. For maximum ballistic or repeated high force impact protection, Interstate Plastics recommends certain grades of polycarbonate sheets.
Acrylic sheet is 17 times stronger than glass, has excellent clarity, durability, is lightweight and weatherable. Acrylic can be sawed, routed, drilled, formed, line bent, cemented and painted.

Cast Acrylic vs. Extruded Acrylic:
Acrylic is produced in two basic variations, cast and extruded. Casting and extruding acrylic produce slightly different properties. Cast acrylic is more difficult to bend and shape versus extruded. In heat bending and thermoforming, extruded acrylic may behave differently depending on the bending direction relative to the extrusion direction. This is not an issue with cast acrylic. When colored cast acrylic is heated for thermoforming or heat bending, the color may change. Matte-colored surfaces can become clear and clear surfaces can become matte or opaque. In addition, the shade of color may change. Laser engraving should only be done on cast acrylic to produce a clear engraved image. In laser cutting, extruded acrylic will have a rougher edge, whereas cast is generally smooth. Cast is more difficult to flame polish versus extruded. Extruded acrylic tends to be more consistent in sheet thickness, while cast can vary as much as +/- 15% in thinner sizes. Cast acrylic is more resistant to the same solvents, as well more resistant to scratching versus extruded.
Acrylic applications are infinitely broad. Here are a few common examples:
Glass Substitute: aquariums, viewing ports for submersibles, automobile light lenses, hockey rink guards, riot protection, bullet-resistant glass applications (i.e. banks, gas stations, vehicles transporting valuables)
We Have received the order from your firm and I must say the pieces of plexiglass are terrific! Perfect fit ? the larger sheet was replacing a piece that was 32 yrs old on the top of a showcase ? looks great and certainly improved the looks of the showcase! Thank you!

I think it is a solid price. good deal and good dealing with the interstate plastics folks.

the masking can be a bit tricky to remove, especially if you think you have it, then rip it and it leaves a half layer (for lack of a better term) that is extremely hard to get off. practice makes perfect, I try to work an entire edge off and peel it flat against itself.

I bought my acrylic with a film masking in the past and it was scratched. The salesperson I spoke with recommended using paper masking and it was a good choice. I recommend paper masking for protecting the sheets.

I wanted to make a fish tank that I didn't think was very complicated. They said they couldn't help with fish tanks, even though I had good drawings. Next!

Came with chipped corners, we had to return the material. Getting new material took 4 days. Meh!

Top quality sheet, excellent optical properties. Our order was properly handled, great!

Got me on shipping a bit, but overall a great deal when it comes down to final price and cost per square foot.

Good acrylic at a good price.

Mixed reviews on here, but I had a good experience. I don't know how you can call it dirty when there's a protective mask on it. Interstate Plastics shipped it safe and the pallet arrived within 4 days of me placing the order. Extremely impressed and we will be back to order more.

Maybe they changed their shipping??? I had the exact same order as below, 12x12x1.25 and there was no processing fee and cheaper shipping... so a bit confused, I think they might have fixed it

A consistently good product. Always good customer service.

Very helpful calculator they have. No hassle just ordered and it came within a week. No need to deal with anyone. Material was in new condition and protected well. Pricing was very reasonable. Happy camper here!

Needed a simple 7" x 7" sheet of plex. Price quoted = $15.
Then they add $15 for "processing."
Then they add $17.42 for UPS GROUND shipping!
Now I'm looking at $47 for this.
No.

The order arrived today in perfect condition. Everything was to specs as ordered including the rounded corners. Thank you very much.

What is up with the processing fee and outrageous shipping costs? Why don't you just charge a bit more for the product instead of ripping people off?
2013-08-15
They are the only source I can find online that will cut to size and deal with odd dimensions. The price is great considering the service! For full sheets, I might consider trying to contact the manufacturer directly, but many times they dont sell direct.

I wanted 1 12x12x1.25 clear acrylic sheet. Price was $39... then add a $15 processing fee plus $22 shipping UPS ground! The process and shipping almost doubled to cost... really? Don't think so. Rip off!!
2013-06-03
I've ordered this with paper masking and film masking. Paper masking is supposed to protect the sheet better, and it probably does, but it can be so difficult to remove that I end up scratching the acrylic in the process. The film masking comes off so easily!

I simply wanted 2 24X24 plexiglass sheets for splash guards on our deli and meat dept. sinks. Price seemed good UNTIL...I proceeded to the cart and got blindsided with a $15.00 processing fee IN ADDITION to HIGH shipping charges which together DOUBLED my order. A processing fee??? REALLY??? Thanks, but NO thanks!!!

Happy to finally find a place that customizes cast acrylic without a consultation.
2012-10-16
Material came on time and was exactly what I ordered. The paper covering was difficult to get off, but I called in and they told me to use soap and water and it worked perfectly.

I was so impressed by the quick service and the great material sent to me that I ordered more of this today. Best material and best pricing in my opinion.

Ask for "flame polishing" to get the clear edges. Great service!
