PEEK PEEK is high temperature-resistant engineered thermoplastic with excellent chemical and fatigue resistance and thermal stability. PEEK exhibits superior mechanical and electrical properties with a maximum continuous working temperature of 480°F and excellent retention of mechanical properties up to 570°F in a steam or high-pressure water environment. Superior chemical resistance has allowed PEEK to work effectively as a metal replacement in harsh environments. PEEK is inert to all common solvents and resists a wide range of organic and inorganic liquids. PTFE PTFE, or Polytetrafluoroethylene, is a fluoropolymer that is resistant to heat and chemicals. It has an extremely low coefficient of friction, and is used as a coating on cookware, gaskets, seals, and hoses. It is unaffected by virtually all acids and caustics, functioning in environments up to 500°F, and as low as -350°F. Ultem (PEI) An amorphous, transparent amber polymer, PEI combines high temperature resistance, rigidity, impact strength, and creep resistance. PEI has found use in medical applications because of its heat and radiation resistance, hydrolytic stability, and transparency; in the electronics field, it is used to make burn-in sockets, bobbins, and printed circuit substrates; automotive uses include lamp sockets and under-hood temperature sensors; and PEI plastic sheeting is used in aircraft interiors.
