As per our Shipping and Returns Policy, custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-returnable. If you need an over- or undersized item, note it under "Comments" during Checkout. Cut-to-size orders have an acceptable cut tolerance of 1/8" (0.125"), so clarify if the adjustment is to be made on the (+) or (-) side of the saw blade. Please review our full return and shipping policy here.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
Since custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-refundable, be very careful while measuring your dimensions. As each cut is nominal, even the slightest miscalculation could be costly.
How to Use a Measuring Tape
Extend your tape measure several inches to find the 1 and 2 inch markers. In between the inch markers you’ll find 16 equally spaced tick marks.
Measure by counting the increments beyond the nearest inch. As the increments decrease, so does the length of the mark. For example, 1/2" has a bigger mark than 1/4" which has a bigger mark than 1/8". The smallest mark follows at 1/16". Please be aware that some measuring tapes may have even smaller increments.
Features of a Measuring Tape: Sliding End Hook
The sliding end hook is designed for two different types of measurements. An outside measurement (where the hook of the tape hangs over an edge), requires the hook to slide out a bit to account for the thickness of the material. When making an inside measurement (where the hook will push up against a surface), the clip slides in, again, accounting for its thickness. The measuring tape self-adjusts to guarantee an accurate measurement (as far as the tape is concerned).
Interstate Plastics is proud to carry Ultem® (PEI), an amorphous polymer that offers outstanding elevated thermal resistance, high strength and stiffness, rigidity and creep resistance. Ultem® is commonly used in the medical field due to its heat and radiation resistance, hydrolytic stability and transparency. It is used to make burn-in sockets, bobbins, printed circuit substrates, automotive lamp sockets and under-hood temperature sensors, and PEI plastics sheeting is used in aircraft interiors.
Transparency Ultem® resin is widely carried in numerous transparent and opaque colors and special effects. Ultem® is also available in glass-filled grades with enhanced strength and stiffness.
Heat & Radiation Resistance Due to its amorphousness, Ultem® has no true melting point. Ultem® offers excellent stability of physical and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures due to a high glass transition temperature of 217°C. It comes available with relative thermal indices (RTI) that reach up to 180°C. Ultem® also offers inherent flame resistance without additives in most grades.
Strength & Stiffness With average stiffness and strength up to 200°C, outstanding strength and thermoplasticity make it one of the best polysulfone alternatives on the market today. Ultem® is often used in place of polysulfone in applications where superior strength, stiffness and temperature resistance are required. Unfilled, transparent grades are equal in strength to other thermoplastics with pacifying fillers.
Environmental Stress & Crack Resistance Compared to many other amorphous thermoplastics, Ultem® products retain strength and resist stress cracking when exposed to automotive and aircraft fluids, aliphatic carbonate, alcohols, acids and weak aqueous solutions. Its environmental stress and crack resistance make it an excellent plastic for any outdoor condition.

Everything looks good so far, we'll see how it works out. Ordering was simple enough.
This is a very difficult product to source and Interstate Plastics is a cost effective supplier of Ultem and has excellent customer service to boot.
This rod works well for electrical applications. We order frequently from Interstate and are always pleased with the service and products.
Im not one of the engineers or fabricators, however I do the purchasing. We are a mid-size office supply company. I can relay from our warehouses that this has been a solid product and from my own experience I know that Interstate is really top notch with customer service.
bought this to use for my sound system business, works and looks amazing
I create guitar picks, and have recently been working with Ultem -- I've tried just about every pick on the market, and absolutely nothing sounds anything like Ultem... A bit hard to describe. Tried using .72 mm on my six string acoustic (with ultra-light 80/20 strings). It has a very ringy sound with a lot of very high overtones that in some ways resembles a 12 string guitar. I've worked with materials like delrin, acetal polymer, tortex or nylon, but the Ultem picks give crisper definition, and a beautiful crystal clear sound. Bass is less prominent compared to competitive picks, but highs and mids are greatly enhanced. Such a well balanced spectrum of sound. Of course this may not be to everyone's taste, but you definitely have to try these and see what you think. Interstate Plastics has been a reliable supplier, at comes at a good price point.
I purchased this to machine some thrust washers - TIP:I use a high helix carbide aluminum endmills; the sharper the better. Good service.
I bought some of this for a school project on diaelectric properties, only supplier who would talk to me on phone with my small quantities and customer service was super nice!
