Tips for measuring & cut-to-size policy »
How To Measure and Cut-To-Size Policy [X]
Cut-To-Size Items are Non-Returnable!
As per our Shipping and Returns Policy, custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-returnable. If you need an over- or undersized item, note it under "Comments" during Checkout. Cut-to-size orders have an acceptable cut tolerance of 1/8" (0.125"), so clarify if the adjustment is to be made on the (+) or (-) side of the saw blade. Please review our full return and shipping policy here.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
Since custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-refundable, be very careful while measuring your dimensions. As each cut is nominal, even the slightest miscalculation could be costly.
How to Use a Measuring Tape
Extend your tape measure several inches to find the 1 and 2 inch markers. In between the inch markers you’ll find 16 equally spaced tick marks.
Measure by counting the increments beyond the nearest inch. As the increments decrease, so does the length of the mark. For example, 1/2" has a bigger mark than 1/4" which has a bigger mark than 1/8". The smallest mark follows at 1/16". Please be aware that some measuring tapes may have even smaller increments.
Features of a Measuring Tape: Sliding End Hook
The sliding end hook is designed for two different types of measurements. An outside measurement (where the hook of the tape hangs over an edge), requires the hook to slide out a bit to account for the thickness of the material. When making an inside measurement (where the hook will push up against a surface), the clip slides in, again, accounting for its thickness. The measuring tape self-adjusts to guarantee an accurate measurement (as far as the tape is concerned).
Sanitizing Acrylic and Polycarbonate Sheet [X]
Acrylic and Polycarbonate Sneeze Guards and like products require special care while cleaning and disinfecting. To maintain the optical clarity of sneeze guards and other acrylic or polycarbonate items, use an acrylic or polycarbonate safe cleaner like Novus Plastic Polish #1, Brillianize Plastic Cleaner, or a mild soap solution.
Please reference the following compatible cleaners when DISINFECTING acrylic and polycarbonate items. The use of commonly available commercial alcohol or ammonia-based disinfectants may cause crazing and damage.
Compatible Polycarbonate Disinfectants:
• sBioMed Steriplex SD
• Safetec Surface Wipes
• Contec Healthcare Perodox RTU
• Contec Healthcare PS-911 EB Prostat Sterile Wipes
Compatible Acrylic Disinfectants:
• Pharmacy Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
• Household Bleach
• Isopropyl Alcohol (Water Diluted to 30% Strength)

AZCARB BR: UL 752 Rated No-Spall Ballistic Glazing
Maximize security without the "white-out" of traditional glass. AZCARB BR offers multi-shot protection and 50% less weight than glass-clad laminates, making it the industry standard for high-security tactical visibility.
Unlike traditional glass-clad products, AZCARB BR's advanced laminate construction is specifically engineered to resist spalling and "white-out" after repeated high-force impacts. This ensures that even under attack, the material maintains a clear line of sight, allowing personnel to identify and respond to threats effectively.
Looking for non-ballistic high-impact solutions? Explore our Abrasion Resistant Polycarbonate options.
Why Choose AZCARB BR?
AZCARB BR is the professional's choice for ballistic glazing. Produced with 100% virgin Lexan™ resin, it offers a superior combination of optical clarity and life-saving durability. Choose this grade if your application requires:
- Superior Threat Visibility: The material won't "spider web" or white-out under attack, maintaining a clear line of sight when it matters most.
- No-Spall Protection: Engineered to prevent dangerous fragments (spall) from breaking off the rear surface during an impact, providing an extra level of safety for occupants.
- Advanced Surface Hardcoat: Features a proprietary thermal-cured siloxane coating on all exterior surfaces to resist marring, chemical attack, and graffiti.
- Lightweight Efficiency: Approximately 50% lighter than glass laminates of the same thickness, making it easier to handle and install.
- Certified Performance: Tested and rated for UL 752 ballistic levels, including Multi-Shot (MS) capabilities for high-velocity threats.
Ballistic Polycarbonate vs. Ballistic Acrylic: Which Do You Need?
Both materials provide ballistic protection, but they perform differently during a threat event.
- Choose AZCARB BR (Polycarbonate) if you require a "no-spall" solution that remains transparent and does not shatter after repeated impacts. It is the ideal choice for tactical visibility and extreme durability.
- Choose Ballistic Acrylic if you need a lower-cost option for Level 1 or Level 2 protection where weight and thickness are less critical, though it may be more prone to cracking or spalling compared to polycarbonate laminates.
Fabrication & Versatility
Despite its immense strength, AZCARB BR is easier to work with than glass-clad alternatives. It can be cut and prepared for installation in demanding environments such as jails, detention centers, psychiatric hospitals, and 24-hour convenience stores.
Planning to fabricate in-house? Review our polycarbonate fabrication guide for more information on cutting, drilling, and finishing polycarbonate.
Not equipped to fabricate ballistic sheet on-site? If you lack the specialized CNC tools or aren't comfortable machining high-value laminates, we offer full-service CNC fabrication for ballistic barriers. We can precision-drill and fabricate custom speak holes, package exchange holes, or pass-throughs to your exact specifications.

- High Light Transmission: Delivers superior transparency, maintaining 72% to 88% light transmission depending on the specific ballistic level and thickness.
- Hard-Coated Surface: The proprietary siloxane coating resists marring and chemical attack while making graffiti removal significantly easier.
- Optically Clear: Unlike glass-clad alternatives, it maintains tactical visibility even after repeated high-force impacts.
Common Industrial Applications
- Correctional Facilities: High-security glazing for windows and partitions in jails and detention centers.
- Medical Facilities: Impact-resistant safety barriers for psychiatric hospitals and high-risk reception areas.
- Retail & Finance: Ballistic protection for 24-hour convenience stores, check cashing centers, and bank teller lines.
- Public Safety: Strategic barriers for government buildings and high-traffic reception areas requiring threat mitigation.
Engineering Limitations & Alternatives
While AZCARB BR provides industry-leading ballistic protection, specific environmental or operational needs may require different materials:
-
Extreme Ballistic Requirements: AZCARB BR is rated up to UL 752 Level 6 (Multi-Shot 9mm).
Better Alternative: For high-powered rifle protection (Level 4, 5, 7, or 8), consult our technical team for specialized heavy-duty ballistic solutions.
-
Weight vs. Cost: Ballistic polycarbonate laminates are premium lightweight solutions compared to glass.
Better Alternative: If weight is not a concern and extreme surface scratch resistance is the primary requirement, consider Glass-Clad Polycarbonate.
-
Non-Ballistic Security: If the primary threat is limited to vandalism or physical impact rather than firearms.
Better Alternative: For high-contact areas without ballistic risks, choose Abrasion Resistant (AR) Polycarbonate.
