As per our Shipping and Returns Policy, custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-returnable. If you need an over- or undersized item, note it under "Comments" during Checkout. Cut-to-size orders have an acceptable cut tolerance of 1/8" (0.125"), so clarify if the adjustment is to be made on the (+) or (-) side of the saw blade. Please review our full return and shipping policy here.
Measure Twice, Cut Once
Since custom cuts and fabricated parts are non-refundable, be very careful while measuring your dimensions. As each cut is nominal, even the slightest miscalculation could be costly.
How to Use a Measuring Tape
Extend your tape measure several inches to find the 1 and 2 inch markers. In between the inch markers you’ll find 16 equally spaced tick marks.
Measure by counting the increments beyond the nearest inch. As the increments decrease, so does the length of the mark. For example, 1/2" has a bigger mark than 1/4" which has a bigger mark than 1/8". The smallest mark follows at 1/16". Please be aware that some measuring tapes may have even smaller increments.
Features of a Measuring Tape: Sliding End Hook
The sliding end hook is designed for two different types of measurements. An outside measurement (where the hook of the tape hangs over an edge), requires the hook to slide out a bit to account for the thickness of the material. When making an inside measurement (where the hook will push up against a surface), the clip slides in, again, accounting for its thickness. The measuring tape self-adjusts to guarantee an accurate measurement (as far as the tape is concerned).
Sanitizing Acrylic and Polycarbonate Sheet [X]
Acrylic and Polycarbonate Sneeze Guards and like products require special care while cleaning and disinfecting. To maintain the optical clarity of sneeze guards and other acrylic or polycarbonate items, use an acrylic or polycarbonate safe cleaner like Novus Plastic Polish #1, Brillianize Plastic Cleaner, or a mild soap solution.
Please reference the following compatible cleaners when DISINFECTING acrylic and polycarbonate items. The use of commonly available commercial alcohol or ammonia-based disinfectants may cause crazing and damage.
High-Strength Black Delrin® 150 Sheet for Precision Components
Black Delrin® 150 (Acetal Homopolymer) provides an excellent balance of stiffness, dimensional stability, and impact resistance. This versatile engineering thermoplastic is formulated for demanding mechanical environments that require structural rigidity under standard operating conditions.
With its low coefficient of friction and strong fatigue endurance, this black homopolymer acetal serves as a highly effective metal replacement. It is a popular material in the manufacturing of sliding parts, bearings, bushings, and gears where consistent wear resistance is necessary.
Black homopolymer acetal is engineered for tight-tolerance machining and long-term mechanical reliability. It is a suitable option when your project requires:
Low Moisture Absorption:
Retains shape and mechanical properties reliably in damp or highly humid conditions.
Structural Rigidity:
The crystalline formulation supports sustained mechanical loads and offers good impact resistance in standard operating environments.
Exceptional Machinability:
Machines cleanly to tight tolerances with standard tooling, reducing fabrication time.
Low Friction & Wear:
Provides a smooth, continuous surface for sliding elements and rotating parts.
Black Delrin® 150 vs. Acetal Copolymer vs. Nylon: Which Do You Need?
While these engineering thermoplastics share some similarities, they are designed for specific operational environments.
Select Black Delrin® 150 (This Sheet) if you need higher stiffness, tensile strength, fatigue endurance, and creep resistance than standard acetal copolymer for precision mechanical parts.
Select Acetal Copolymer if your application requires improved resistance to centerline porosity, better hot-water or chemical resistance, or a verified food-contact grade. Always confirm FDA compliance by exact grade, color, and supplier documentation.
Select Nylon if you need an exceptionally tough, abrasion-resistant plastic capable of handling repeated, heavy impacts.
This material is known for its excellent machinability. Using proper support and standard machining equipment, operators can consistently produce clean cuts and precision finishes. Controlled speeds and feeds, rigid fixturing, sharp tooling, and low vibration are recommended to hold tight tolerances.
WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Formaldehyde, CAS 50-00, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov .
Handling: Cut sheets may have sharp edges. We recommend wearing protective gloves when unpacking and handling this material to ensure safety.
Suitability: We take pride in the quality of our materials as they leave our facility. However, because every project is unique, we cannot account for how materials are modified, stored, or used after delivery. Please perform the necessary tests to ensure this material is right for your specific application and end-use conditions.
ACEBE5 SH
Technical Performance
Black homopolymer acetal (POM-H) is designed for applications requiring high modulus of elasticity, strength, rigidity, low moisture absorption, and dimensional stability.
Moisture Absorption:
Very low; retains form and dimensional stability in humid or damp environments.
Dimensional Stability:
Highly crystalline structure provides consistent mechanical properties and excellent creep resistance during long-term use in recommended operating conditions.
Friction & Wear:
Low coefficient of friction combined with good toughness properties produces reliable sliding and guiding performance.
Key Properties
High Tensile Strength:
Provides reliable structural integrity for load-bearing mechanical components.
Creep Resistance:
Excellent resistance to cold flow, maintaining shape under static loads.
Centerline Porosity:
A potential characteristic of acetal homopolymer where low-density areas or voids may occur near the centerline. In sheet form, porosity may appear as a line along the center of a cut edge.
Electrical Properties:
Functions well as an insulator for electronic devices and components.
Chemical Resistance:
Offers good resistance to many hydrocarbons, solvents, and neutral chemicals. Note: verification of compatibility for specific operating conditions is encouraged.
Common Industrial Applications
Auto Mechanical: Valves, bearings, gears, sliding elements, housing parts, springs, and conveyor links.
While Delrin® 150 is chosen for its machinability and strength, specific environments may require different formulations or materials:
Fluid Leakage & Bacteria: Centerline porosity in Delrin® 150 can create potential routes for liquid or gas leakage and areas where bacteria may accumulate. Better Alternative: For food processing, sealing components, or fluid environments where centerline porosity is a concern, choose Acetal Copolymer.
Extreme Abrasive Wear: While Delrin® 150 has a low COF, it is not the most abrasive-resistant plastic available for heavy bulk material handling. Better Alternative: For chute liners or heavy sliding abrasion, consider Virgin UHMW.
High Heat or Prolonged Hot Water: Applications involving continuous hot-water exposure, steam, elevated temperatures, strong caustics, or high-pH cleaning conditions may require a different material. Better Alternative: For hot water or high-pH cleaning, consider Acetal Copolymer. For dry elevated-temperature wear, consider Heat-Stabilized Nylon. For more aggressive heat or chemical exposure, consider PTFE (Teflon®).
