Interstate Plastics Sponsored James Bickford Selected for 2015 'NASCAR Next' Program

Interstate Plastics sponsored James Bickford was one of twelve drivers to be inducted into NASCAR Next 2015 on Tuesday, May 5th at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC.

Each year the program features twelve drivers actively competing in a NASCAR touring or weekly series, selected through an evaluation process that includes input from industry executives and veteran racers. Its ultimate goal is to spotlight a group of young competitors who are quickly accelerating their careers by rising up in the world of NASCAR.

“The NASCAR Next initiative spotlights the future of NASCAR, a collection of promising young talent who have shown the potential to one day reach the highest level of our sport,” explained Jill Gregory, NASCAR senior vice president for industry services. “Alumni – and current members – of the NASCAR Next program are achieving success at the national series level, and we are confident that this class will build upon that foundation of excellence for many seasons to come.”

Now in its fifth season, NASCAR Next alumni have moved up to demonstrate the strength of the program. Big names to come out of the program include NASCAR drivers Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, and Cole Custer. Bickford, 17, and Nicole Behar, 17, are the only two drivers in the 2015 class to come from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. The full list of the 2015 NASCAR Next class can be found here.

Bickford spoke with Interstate Plastics: “This is a good group of drivers and I’ve raced against most of them, probably more at Iowa than any other place, because that’s a combined K&N East and West event. And I’ll be racing against them again when we go to Iowa in a little less than two weeks.”

Bickford relishes the opportunity to be part of NASCAR Next program, an opportunity he understands most drivers never receive.

“NASCAR Next is great for drivers like me who are moving up through the various series. It’s a once in a lifetime chance, and I’m very honored to be a part of a program that’s grown so big and so involved. I’m really excited about the opportunities it’s going to bring,” he added.

The Interstate Sponsored No. 6 Bickford NASCAR currently ranks fifth overall in the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West standings. At this early point in the 14-race series, he’s amassed one top-five and two top-ten finishes.
